Harvey Meieran

The Savoyards mourn the loss of their “wit in the pit”, Harvey Meieran, who passed on Monday, March 2nd.

Harvey was a lifetime member of the Savoyards. He was a violist in the Savoyards orchestra for four decades and served several terms as Savoyards president.

Harvey and I were Savoyards stand partners for many, many years.  He knew every G. & S. show backwards and forwards, and could spot every variation (deliberate or otherwise) in a production.  Like Gilbert, he was an inveterate punster, and could find the humor in any situation.  He’ll be sorely missed. – Phil Wion

In recognition of his many years of service and friendship, the Savoyards dedicate a permanent orchestra chair, and our 2015 run of The Mikado, to Harvey’s memory. To donate to the establishment of the Orchestra Chair in memory of Harvey, send your contributions to the Pittsburgh, Savoyards, P.O. Box 44065, Pittsburgh, PA 15205-4065.  Harvey’s family will receive a list of donor names.
